Sprint Waste Wins for Safety Excellence

Sprint Waste Services has been recognized for safety excellence, winning best-in-class honors for its work at ExxonMobil’s refinery and petrochemical facility in Baytown, Texas.

Of the 47 contractors selected as finalists for exemplary safety performance, only 13 were named best in their categories. Sprint Waste won in the Specialty Contractor—Technical Support Large category.

Winners were announced May 19 during the 30th Annual Houston Safety Excellence Awards. More than 1,500 industry representatives of both owner and contractor companies attended the ceremony at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, hosted by the Houston Business Roundtable and the Houston Area Safety Council.

“At Sprint Waste Services we are passionate about creating and sustaining the safest possible environment for our customers, our employees, our partners and the community,” Sprint Waste Services President Dave Nelson said. “This important award validates our daily commitment to continually strengthening our work practices and minimizing risk. We appreciate ExxonMobil for nominating us again this year and for partnering with us to make the ExxonMobil Baytown location a model site for safety excellence.”

Having been nominated and named as a finalist several times, Sprint Waste won the prestigious “best of the best” award in 2015 before sitting out a year to serve as a mentor to other organizations in the awards process.
