Sprint Waste Supports Fight Against Cancer

Sprint Waste Services is proud to support many outstanding organizations, so when JE Dunn Construction asked us to support its Team in Training to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, we were happy to help this unique and inspiring cause.

Team in Training (TNT) is the flagship fundraising program of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the only endurance sports training program that raises money for blood cancer research. Athletes of all fitness levels receive coaching and training as a team to cross the finish line of a half or full marathon, cycling event, triathlon, or hiking adventure. The 18-member JE Dunn team competed in two events earlier this month—the Suja Rock’N’Roll Marathon and Half Marathon in San Diego and America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe, ultimately raising an impressive $113,000-plus through individual and corporate donations.

Each LLS Team in Training works toward a common goal as members improve personal fitness and overall wellness, all in the name of improving the lives of blood cancer patients and their families. Since the program began in 1988, more than $1 billion for blood cancer research has been raised by more than 600,000 participants.

And, teams that raise at least $100,000 earn the right to designate a named research portfolio, meaning the JE Dunn team will have a hand in designating just how their $113,000 will be spent! In this way teams reaching the $100,000 fundraising goal can honor a patient or family affected by blood cancer and direct the research dollars toward a particular cancer or research study.

“When our friends at JE Dunn asked us to support their Team in Training, it was an easy decision once we learned more about this amazing program,” said Sprint Waste Partner Reagan Swinbank. “It has been absolutely inspiring to see what the JE Dunn Team in Training was able to accomplish together, and we’re especially happy to help the team exceed the portfolio milestone. Congratulations to JE Dunn and the entire Team in Training for a job well done!”
