Proud Title Sponsor of Men Who Cook 2016

We’re proud to be the title sponsor of Men Who Cook 2016, an annual gala that benefits the Lamar Education Awards Foundation (LEAF), set to take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Texas Ballroom at Safari Texas Ranch in Richmond, Texas.

Men Who Cook 2016 presented by Sprint Waste will include dinner cooked by 51 “celebrity” chefs, entertainment by the Ken Mondshine and the Brotherhood Band, and live and silent auctions to raise funds and support for the nonprofit community-based organization. Founded in 2000 to benefit the students of Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (CISD), the foundation provides funds beyond the district’s normal operating budget for education programs and activities for students and staff.

“We’re excited to partner with the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation to support education in our community in a significant way,” said Reagan Swinbank, partner at Sprint Waste Services. “The foundation’s efforts make a profound difference in our community, and we couldn’t be happier to be associated with this important event.”

“It is an honor having Sprint Waste as the presenting sponsor for 2016,” said Judi Vernon, LEAF’s board president. “Their enthusiastic support of the students in our school district and of the area’s overall economy shows their commitment to our community.”

Highlighting the auction at this year’s gala are four Uptown Grandstand tickets to the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The highest bidder and three guests will be front and center to see the parade march by in reserved seats that are not available to the general public. Another showcase auction item is a complete Trane air conditioning and heating system provided by the Hunton Group and installed by All Out A/C & Heating in Richmond.

Since its inception, LEAF has invested more than $2.5 million back into Lamar CISD. Funds raised from this year’s event will go toward offering scholarships to district graduates and paraprofessionals working toward teaching certificates, as well as innovative ideas and classroom projects proposed by district teachers that would otherwise be unfunded.
